Facelift Surgery Explained

Facelift surgery is usually performed under IV sedation. You will be asleep for injections but may be partially awake when having the procedure to minimize the risks of anesthesia. Dr. Ende will give you the option of being either wide awake or completely under anesthesia. Dr. Ende uses advanced techniques to avoid an unnatural pulled appearance. Incisions are made in the natural skin folds around and inside the ear as well as under the chin and muscles are tightened along your cheeks, jawline and neck. The procedure lasts for 1.5 hours. You will need to have on a bandage for one night and a chin strap for 7 days. The sutures around and inside the ear and under chin will be removed after 7 days. You may experience bruising for one week and swelling for 2 weeks. Most patients use pain medication during the first night and find that ice works better from there on.
